IBT 200 is a 200-hour, five-week training course designed to prepare you for a career in solar installation. Learn the latest solar technologies through interactive classroom instruction, hands-on lab activities, and real-world installation projects—taught by industry experts who know what employers are looking for.

Upon graduation, you’ll have advanced solar knowledge, hands-on installation experience, and valuable employer connections—ready to work on day one. You’ll also receive job readiness support, including resume building, interpersonal skills training, and job search assistance.

IBT 200 Curriculum

Over 200 hours (minimum 5 weeks), you’ll gain hands-on experience and technical skills aligned with the NABCEP PV Installer Specialist Job Task Analysis.
Graduates receive:

  • IBT 200 Certificate of Completion

  • OSHA-10 Certification

  • CPR/First Aid Certification

Training covers:

  • Safety procedures

  • Construction basics

  • Electricity fundamentals

  • Array installation

  • Commissioning & O&M

  • Employment readiness

Program Cost & Eligibility

Cost: Free for eligible participants. In some cases, trainees may be paid to participate.
Priority given to:

  • Individuals from environmental justice communities

  • Communities historically excluded from clean energy opportunities

  • Referrals from mission-aligned partners


Minimum Requirements

  • 18+ years old

  • Basic English comprehension (oral instructions & safety guidelines)

  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Physical ability to perform solar installation work (reasonable accommodations available)

  • Motivation to work in the solar industry
